Shopping and Dining
The pretty market town of Biggar is 4 1/2 miles away and offers an excellent selection of independent shops, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a Co-op and Sainsbury’s.
Biggar is renowned for its Hogmanay Bonfire and the annual Agricultural Show in July and the Biggar Little Festival in October, with a wide range of events held throughout the year.
The nearby Borders town of Peebles offers a wonderful selection of shops, and a lovely theatre. Glentress Forest Mountain Biking centre is one of Peebles main attractions, having won many awards including 1st place in the top Scottish Trails of 2015, awarded by iBikeRide.
World Heritage Site
The New Lanark World Heritage Site is 14 miles away. This award winning visitor centre provides an fantastic opportunity to view life as it would have been in a cotton mill village in 18th Century Scotland. There are frequently touring exhibitions at New Lanark.
Walkers and hillwalkers will enjoy the proximity to the Pentland Hills and the Southern Uplands. The farm rests at the foot of Blackmount Hill and enjoys spectacular views towards Culter Fell and Tinto Hill - the latter being a very popular walk for all age groups, only 10 minutes drive away.
Edinburgh and Glasgow
For those who wish to explore further afield, Lammerlaw is ideally placed to visit Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as Scottish Border towns. Enjoy the Edinburgh Festival and many attractions in both cities. There is a bus link to both cities from Biggar and train links from Carstairs nearby. Park and Ride facilities near Edinburgh are proving very popular for our Guests.
